Legamaster screens are a sustainable solution in terms of handling, warranty, maintenance, ease of use and value for money

Interview with Miel De Venter, ICT Manager at KBO

Interoffice BV, part of the Baert Group, is the official Legamaster partner for the education sector in Flanders (the Dutch-speaking region of Belgium). The company specialises in all types of products and solutions for schools, from stationery and IT solutions to interactive displays.

In 2017, Interoffice successfully launched a pilot project for interactive displays with the KBO school network. Since then, KBO has continued to invest in digital Legamaster solutions for its schools and classrooms, in collaboration with partner Interoffice.


What needs or obstacles do you encounter in education? 

“Along with limited budget, we’ve been facing an ever-growing shortage of time in recent years. A lot of time is spent on things like fixing minor issues, maintaining or repairing devices (replacing projector lamps, cleaning filters), keeping up with the latest innovations (as technology evolves faster and faster), training staff, etc. 

Besides automating processes, we try to tackle hardware-related issues by developing a uniform and well-thought-out strategy at the school community level.”

Which Legamaster solution do you use to solve or improve current needs, problems, or applications?

“We use digital touch screens (Legamaster EVOLVE series), in combination with different mounting options such as mobile stands, column systems, and fixed wall mounting solutions. 

Since installing the first screen in our pilot school back in 2017, we haven’t had any significant issues with them. In fact, the number of screens across our school community has only continued to grow. 

By choosing Legamaster’s digital screens, we are choosing a sustainable solution when it comes to manageability, warranty, maintenance, ease of use, and overall value for money.” 

How does our product add value to your daily activities and needs?

“It’s an all-in-one solution. The digital screen replaces the traditional chalkboard, serves as a calculation tool (with a ruler, compass, protractor, etc.), functions as a multimedia hub (for video and audio), and even acts as a collaborative workspace for students. 

Thanks to regular software updates, teachers also stay up to date with the latest innovations.” 

Which aspect do you find most valuable? Or what do you like most about this product? 

“For the staff, switching to a Legamaster digital board is easy, thanks to the similarities with smartphones/tablets, which most people are familiar with these days. This makes the screens very user-friendly. 

Thanks to the high quality of the devices, we haven’t experienced many problems in the long term, which allows us, as IT professionals, to save time that was previously spent on maintaining and calibrating projectors. 

Another great advantage is the excellent support from the warehouse to the classroom. For us, as IT professionals, it’s incredibly easy to purchase a new screen thanks to the smooth planning and hassle-free installation. 

Another huge added value is the training provided by Interoffice with each new screen. This allows our teachers to gradually explore the new screen and fully leverage their partner in education.” 

Would you recommend this solution to other schools, and what would you mention? 

“Absolutely. In terms of price and quality, we are very satisfied with these digital screens. The excellent support and service from the supplier have also become a reliable and pleasant norm.” 

Do you have any tips to improve our solutions? 

“A management environment to easily and clearly manage all the screens (such as pushing apps, performing firmware updates, sending notifications to staff, etc.) would be a huge added value for our school community, as it consists of 16 schools spread across a fairly large area. The central IT helpdesk is in one central place, which means someone has to travel to each school to make any adjustments.

Overall, we are very satisfied with the progress we have made so far.”
